Exploring the intersection between live drumming and experimental electronic music. Using an interconnected setup of drum kit, sampler, and delay/looping devices, his live set explores fractured polyrhythms, displaced beats, and glitched loops. Drawing inspiration equally from electronica, post-rock, and jazz, the focus is on expanding a unique rhythmic vocabulary, blending the synthetic with the organic, and pushing the boundaries of live electronic performance from behind a drum kit.
Classically trained violist, singer, and composer Sophie Sirota blends emotive string work with modern electronics to craft deeply immersive soundscapes. Known for her looping pedal wizardry and textural depth, Sophie has worked with artists from Kim Deal to Paul Weller, and her recent contribution to Coastal Electronauts Vol. 1 was praised by Electronic Sound as "an elegant requiem for looped strings that swells like the incoming tide,". Moving, expansive, and always innovative.
Playful, unpredictable instrumentals using guitar, laptop, and an assortment of controllers and effects. Chiming loops give way to glitchy detours, pop hooks collide with amen breaks. Beats get twisted, songs shift form mid-flow, and guitar lines trigger chaos with surgical precision. Think Cornelius meets a DIY live-coding set—clever, curious, and brimming with imagination.
A force of sonic extremity without relying on heaviness, Ensemble 1 crafts futuristic, crystalline soundscapes polished to a blinding sheen. Their music evokes immaculate architectures and militaristic precision, like quantum computers executing terrifying beauty. At once seductive and lethal, they are clinical, controlled chaos in audio form.
